The Miami MSC is a Mobile Switching Center for Verizon Wireless and is the part of the wireless network infrastructure that provides:
- Mobility management for the subscribers
- Call set-up services
- Connection control services
- Service logic functions
- Trans-coding function
As a result, the building was designed to have numerous wires running within the wall cavities. When Lotspeich Co. of Florida, Inc. realized the amount of cutting they would have to do to install foam board insulation in the wall cavities of this facility, they went searching for an alternate product that would meet the R-Value specifications on this job. Then they recalled that Fi-Foil’s reflective insulation is installed over the furring strips and hence, would involve a lot less cutting. Furthermore, the product is offered in a tape tab version, for faster installation over metal furring.
The reflective insulation -VR Plus Shield™ Hi-Perm with tape tab that was selected and installed on this project will give them an R-Value of 7.0 over the 1-5/8” furred cavity.
