General Contractor: Barton Marrow Company, Alpharetta, GA
Insulation Contractor: Wilson Insulation, Decatur, GA
Product Application: RetroShield® System [9,000sf installed]
Completion Date: July 2010
Druids Hills United Methodist Church and the Atlanta School Board share this space at 1200 Ponce de Leon Avenue NE, Atlanta, GA, and needed an insulation solution that would cover up the existing vinyl faced batt insulation that was deteriorating and falling down.
Wilson Insulation suggested Fi-Foil’s RetroShield® System, specifically designed for existing metal buildings, attaching Fi-Foil’s RBI Shield reflective insulation to the bottom of the purlins with their patented Clip & Pin components. This system also allowed them to keep the existing insulation in place.
Fi-Foil offers a reflective/reflective, reflective/white or reflective/black facing. However, in this building with the foil/white attached to the bottom of the purlins they created a 6-8” enclosed reflective air space, achieving an R-12.
The RetroShield® System has also been used success-fully in the renovation of fitness centers, warehouses, manufacturing and distribution centers.
